Okay, so this past weekend I imported a spreadsheet with the items and new picking sequences, and put some meaningful (to us) data in the comments fields. Everything seemed to work fine with the import. Post import IC freezes whenever I try to open an item from the computer I did the import on. It works fine on every other computer in the office. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

We need some more information about your environment and what you have tried doing to troubleshoot this problem. Most likely the user doing the import had an ungraceful exit just as the import completed but not before all of the processes we complete. Have you checked the server to make sure that the user doing the import hasn't left some Adagio file(s) open? This task should be done by your IT Support professional.

Otherwise please let us know:

Version of IC?
Workstation operating system?

Does each user have a unique network login id and password?

Does each user have a unique Adagio login id and password?

For a computer that works, are us using the same Adagio login id that was used on the workstation that doesn't work?

Hi Douglas,

Thanks for your response. I did the import but there were no signs that anything fishy happened when I did it. I imported the items and there were no errors or hangups during or after the process. When I completed the import I went to check a few items to verify it worked. I can open up IC, logon, and click Item Inquiry. That's where it stops working, if I try to open an Item it freezes. As far as I can tell it is isolated to my PC.

Please find the answers to your questions below.

Version of IC?
The version of IC is 8.1D.

Workstation operating system?
Windows 7 64bit

Does each user have a unique network login id and password?
Yes

Does each user have a unique Adagio login id and password?
Yes

For a computer that works, are us using the same Adagio login id that was used on the workstation that doesn't work?
I have used the same adagio login info and network logon info on 2 other machines and adagio works properly.

Hi Clint,

We are not aware of any problems in this area. Especially since you indicated that other workstations have no problem. I wouldn't expect import items to cause a problem such as this from a single workstation.

Do your items have Alerts or other pop-up messages? Is it possible that some message is active that requires to click OK, and that message is hidden, making it appear that the app is frozen? You could try Alt-tabbing away from IC and then back again.

Do you have other applications that integrate with IC, such as Order Entry or Invoices or Sales Analysis? If you edit or view an item from one of these places, does the same behaviour occur?

You could also try running IC on the sample data in \softrak\icwin\samdata from your PC, to see if the same problem occurs, to isolate whether what you are experiencing is localized to your live company data.

The other modules all work fine. I tried IC on the sample data and the same thing happens. I rolled my computer back to the day before I did the Item import but it didn't help. There are no pop-up messages or alerts and the program is definitely frozen.

Sometimes the entry box is off the screen. What happens if you press the [Esc] when the application appears to be frozen?

Just in case something is hung up in the workstations memory, try shutting down, wait 60 seconds, and then restarting the workstation.

Next go to the workstations temp folder and delete all of the non-active contents. Depending upon your set up this may not be c:\windows\temp, please check with your IT support to make sure you are cleaning up the correct location.

Failing that you will probably need to get your Adagio expert to take a look.

Have you run Data Integrity Check? Perhaps your test doesn't include the same items in the other workstations. There could be an index problem.

Esc does the trick. So it is not actually frozen. How would I go about getting the Pop-Up box to show up on the screen.
