When closing the year in accounts payable this message appeared
"Period End Clearing Journal - Should print & clear first"
The only journal I could find was "Print Clearing Posting Journal". When I tried to print this journal the response was
"there is nothing to print". I cannot close the year unless I Print and Clear the Period End Clearing Journal

Hello Premium,

If you can not print the report to printer or file, you will have to remove it from the data directory.

The file name is APPOSTP.{data extension}.

Exit from Payables and then rename the file.

I am having similar problems with closing the year end in:
1. Accounts Payable (invoice posting journal, manual check posting journal, and system check register are all listed as 'must print and clear' but they are already printed and cleared)
2. General Ledger (posting journal and unposting journal)

What are the file names I need to remove from the data directory?

Hi, Cindy,

The files you are referring to are:

APPOSTI.xxx for invoices
APPOSTMC.xxx for manual checks
APPOSTSC.xxx for system check register
(Note: '.xxx' refers to your 3-character data extension.)

Please do not delete the files. Here's what to do:

1) IF when you go to try and print these posting journals, you actually see a range of journal numbers to print, you need to (a) post another batch of this type, (b) rather than print the posting journal right away, say NO, (c) go the the Post or Payments menu item and print from there taking care to print the entire range of journals, not just the one you posted, using the Print button not the Preview button and (d) clear the range of journals.

OR

2) IF when you go to try to print the posting journals, you don't even get to the print journal number range screen, you need to: (a) use Windows Explorer to drill down to your data directory, (b) locate the appropriate file as per the above, (c) right click and rename the file -- perhaps changing the extension to 'old'.

One of these resolves should solve your problem but it's important you choose the correct method to use.

Thanks - that looks like a solution for my first question (about A/P).

How about my second question (about the G/L)?

For GL, the file names are:

GLPJRNAL.xxx (the posting journal)
GLPJRUNP.xxx (the unposting journal)
GLPSTERR.xxx (the posting error journal)
GLPPJRNL.xxx (the provisional posting journal)
