Andrew and I had a conversation recently about the ability to drill down to the transaction detail (balanced entry) from financial reporter.

I have discovered that this is impossible if one has edited the (Tx) Detail and unchecked the following boxes: Batch #, Entry #, Detail #

Has anyone produced a "Minimum Requirements" for the (Tx) Detail fields required to drill down to the balanced entry?

Do you have any other fields disabled in the Tx Details view? I ask because, I am able to drilldown without those fields enabled and without the Journal Entry field enabled either.

Are you receiving a particular message when you try to do the Tx Details drilling?

Previously we had the following fields selected:

Reference

With those fields we could not drill down to the balanced entry.

After adding Batch #, Entry #, and Detail #, we can.

Sorry, Lyndon, I didn't take this far enough before.

It's the Batch # and Entry # being disabled that cause your issue.

With the Batch # and Entry # disabled, you can't get to the 2nd drilldown window, because the FR has been told not to show that specific information.

Enable the Batch # and you get the 2nd window but there's nothing to display because the Entry # is disabled and this window displays entries and their details, just not the specific detail #s.

This makes sense to me. A site might want to prevent users from seeing that much detail.

I'll run it by R&D for you though.

R&D's confirmed that the 'index' fields have to be available in the grid to show that information. If you use the DDE for the G/L Posted Transactions (which is really what you're drilling down to), you'll see what the index fields are -- Batch # and Entry # being they most key.
