We are slowly moving all of our accounting system functions from ACCPAC to Adagio. One of our regular steps is to print the G/L posting journal to a file as well as to the printer, effectively archiving it and allowing us to ultimately destroy the paper copy.

Two things have happened. The format of the txt file is unusable, bears no resemblance to the printed report, and I am having a great deal of difficulty completing it, : Error 524 Print Job Busy Close Print Job<PEClosePrintJob> is the message that is coming up. Are these two problems related ? Has anyone any suggestions on what is happening and how it might be fixed ? Looking forward to any and all suggestions and ideas.

p.s. Installed the Service Pack for G/L 8.0B (2004.10.05) last week, and I don't have any evidence that this worked properly prior to the install.

Hello Sandra,

Rather than using plain text, you'll find you have better results if you archive your printed reports as PDF files. There is an inexpensive utility PDF995 that will create PDF's on disk, if you don't have Adobe Acrobat. Another alternative is Microsoft's MDI printer, shipped standard with Office 2003.

Crystal Reports is not very good about exporting reports so that they will print out exactly as they would on the printer.

Hi Sandra,

The error 524 is known to happen with older versions of Adagio and exporting a report to a TXT file. Perhaps try re-running the workstation setup in case a file on your local computer has not been updated correctly, since you are using the current version 8.0B.

You may also try printing the report to a Word file, rather than Text-only. This will look much more readable and will not generate that 524 error. To set up for ease of use, edit the Company Profile and on the Options screen, change the 'Default print to file format' to 'Word for Windows'. You could also choose Excel or HTML.

When printing any report, choose a print destination of File (at the bottom of the print report screen). It will have selected the Word format for you automatically, and the document will be created in the data directory (by default, though you may save it anywhere you wish).

Hopefully this will solve both the 524 error and the readability issues.
