OE Customer Inquiry Excel export not reliable

I exported our complete customer list to excel and it is large: 4411 customers. The first time I export (using the excel direct button on the OE Customer Inquiries window) I get a list of 4413 rows in excel (including header & totals), but some customers were missing. then I exported again using the exact same method, the excel direct button, and got a list of the same length, but this one did include the missing customers. When I went back to the original file and had excel "remove duplicates" in the customer ID field, it deleted 109 duplicate rows. This is very troubling, as we export to excel often from OE, and don't always have a way to check if everything on screen was included or not. Also we don't need duplicates showing up for no reason. I believe this has happened with OE Items Inquiry with sales and cost also, but I have not yet taken the time to go back and test it the same way. Has this happened to anyone else? I am running: OE version 8.1D 110316 AR version 9.0B 100910 IC version 8.1C 101104

Does your data pass the Data Integrity Check?

I had a clean check at the end of last week, but last night the check had 23 errors. I have rebuilt and will see if there are any errors remaining after tonight's data check. Thank you.

We are still having this same issue unfortunately. Data checks are clean. I'm not sure what to check next?

Hi Kristin: This is a perfect time to get your Adagio dealer involved. The symptoms you describe shouldn't be happening, yet you can reproduce them. No one else has similar symptoms and therefore the Forum can't really provide an answer. Your dealer can troubleshoot and find an explanation. If you want to start the troubleshooting, see if you get the same results on all computers and then see if you get the same results with sample data (though it may not have enough customers for a valid test).

Andrew, I'm working with her to try to troubleshoot this. Data integrity check is clean. It's intermittent. Sometimes she gets duplicates -- sometimes she does not.
I have made sure she is not using filters (not that a filter should give a duplicate value, but still). She exported her inventory items twice to test and both times there was one duplicate value. Customers exported correctly twice and then the third time had 13 duplicate values.
She's going to try to see if this is happening on another workstation.
I also discussed that she had a few upgrades to implement. But she uses Virtual Vendor, so she needs to confirm that the link to VV won't break, so there is always a delay in implementing new versions.
She will also test on another workstation.
Her customer list is in the mid to upper 3000's and she has roughly 1800 inventory items. Obviously, the sample data will be smaller than that. I'd be interested in hearing if any other larger companies have run into this issue. (Or if they knew about it if they did...)
Kristin said that she uploaded her data to Softrak. Just wondering if anyone had a chance to test it and if so, what the result was?
I'll also get a copy of her data and do some testing here to see if I can reproduce the issue.
Thanks in advance, Carol

After testing on 3 other workstations, 2 of the other workstations exported fine, one other had the same error as mine. I am the only one that is running Excel 2007, the other 3 are running Excel 2010.
This happens when exporting from Gridview as well, which has made one of the GV reports we had custom built for us inaccurate and unusable.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi, With reference to the volume of customers, one of our larger Adagio sites with over 50,000 customers has never experienced the situation you are describing, so we do not think that the volume of customers is an issue.
The same for volume at another of our Adagio sites with over 90,000 inventory items. No accuracy issues when exporting to Excel. Takes a bit of time for the export to complete, but the resultant is complete and accurate. They would like the export to be faster but considering the volume, the speed makes sense.
Exporting at volume sites used to be an issue with number of line limitations on older versions of Excel, but not with current versions.
Your environment sounds like a situation of your older workstation (with the problem) being an XP, running an older version of XLS, with OP locks disabled on the workstation, with SMB2 setting on your server, (I'm guessing 2008 Server.) Which would be less than optimal settings for the workstation. More details would help, but my gut feel says this may be contributing to the cause.
Best, Brian

Thanks Brian. The two workstations with this confirmed problem are running Windows 7, one has Excel 2007 and the other has 2010. Our server is Win 2008 R2 Standard. The XP workstation (it's a virtual machine), is only for running Virtual Vendor Manager, we don't run any of the Adagio modules from it. We would upgrade the VM, but it sounds like quite an undertaking from what Peter has told us.
I agree that the oplocks situation is not ideal, but I'm surprised it would cause those kind of failures.

Hello Kristin, You should come to the Adagio Opportunity Conference and discuss moving off Virtual Vendor to Webtelligence from North49 who will be there. They have done this move for several Adagio sites, so would be able to tell you what is involved. Webtelligence supports remote data entry and payments from Android/iOS tablet devices as well, which might be very useful given the nature of your business.
