Good day to you all!

I have just been asked to setup a new set of books which I have done on numerous occasions.

This is to include Ledger, AP & AR.

The account I am using is the SYS account and it works everywhere to open folders with full rights - the user ID & password combination is correct.

However, when trying to add these new books I am getting the message noted above: "Caution: signon failed" and the data sets are not created.

Any assistance would be most helpful.

Thank you and,

Cheers, JK

Have you created the datasets? Is the path and data extension correct?

Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your prompt responce.

The path I usually follow is to:

1. Ledger - data creation - provide folder and extension
2. AP - data creation - provide folder and extension
3. AR - data creation - provide folder and extension

Starting with creating the Ledger data

a- I answer "Yes" to the confirmation dialog
b- I "Ok" the EZfile Directories

The system responds with an error dialog stating the message noted above.

I have tried this on:

1- our standard ACL network controlled folder,
2- a network share with no restrictions,
3- a local folder with no restrictions.

They all yield the same result.

Thank you and,

Cheers, JK

You haven't filled in the password correctly before clicking the "Create" button.

The password is correct - I've checked the obvious...

I use this to open the other data sets w/o a problem...

Hi JohnK

Copy the ADSPROF.xxx (where xxx is the data extension) from another dataset where SYS works to this dataset location.

Hi Steve,

That did it - I guess the file that is being copied into the new folder is corrupted correct?

Should I copy a good file back up - if so, where to and using what extension?

Thank you - this has been very helpful!

No, it's not corrupted, it was just pointing to a different list of users.

That file gets backed up whenever you do a complete backup under File | Backup.

Hi Steve,

This is really weird because I have created numerous companies over the years and never had this problem.

I just retried the operation on a local drive and the only way to make it work was to do your trick.

I have done a full backup of one of our systems including an integrity check and then tried to create a new data set once again but with no success.

What do I need to fix so that this issue is corrected? i would hate to be caught in a position down the road where we cannot add data sets and then we need to get the heavy weights in to "tap the fridge in the right spot"!
<grin>...

As always, thank you and,

Cheers, JK

The Adagio Opportunity Conference is where you learn about fridge tapping.
