I have added a suggestion for Job Alerts to the wishlist for a future release.
In the meantime, if you can find another text field to store this information, you may be able to add it to the list of fields displayed when the Job is selected from the finder.
For example, in Receivables if you are interfaced at the Job level, there are several text fields from the Job Master that you can add to the finder. Report Groups or Contract number, for example. There are 2 lines for the Job Description, perhaps one of them be used to contain this information.
In Payables, this information would have be in the Estimate Description.
