Is there any way to import quantities or updatequantities without doing it by each individual item in inventory control; Or there a 3rd party software that can do this?

Hi Gail,

Adagio Inventory allows importing Adjustments and Physical Inventory, both of which can update quantity on hand.

If you choose to do this, ensure you have a backup of your IC data prior to importing changes like this, as they are not reversible.

RE: Importing Items into IC ... as per the IC manual, "... many of the export fields cannot be imported back into the program". Can the import update quantities and cost of existing items?

I have received conflicting replies and am confused.

Thanks

Hello Gail,

When you import item records, you can import cost for these fields: Most recent cost, Standard Cost, Cost 1 and Cost 2.

You can not import quantities or the related cost when you import Items.

However, you can import transactions to increase or decrease the item quantities and costs: Receipts, Adjustments, Shipments.

Importing Items is not the same thing as importing Adjustments and Physical Inventory. Read that section of the manual and you won't be as confused.

when changing the company profile for pricing options, does the change effect existing items or just new items being added after the date of the change.

We are trying to change our pricing (pricing determined by)from a customer type to a quantity purchased option. We have made the change in the company profile, but nothing appeared to change in the item master files.

Hi Gail,

Indeed you are correct that changing the Company Profile only affects new items created after these changes, and not items already existing. Otherwise any time a change to the profile is made, that could muck up a carefully designed setup with different pricing for different items.

You can use the Import Items function to update existing items and change the pricing options. If you want to make the same change for ALL items, then this is really simple:
- Use Export items to export your item code list to a file. The only field you need to export in the Field Selection list is the item number itself - no others needed.
- Create a template in the Import Items function to point at that file (created from Export). Ensure that the 'Overwrite records' option is selected (to update existing items) and the 'Add new records' option is not selected (because you are not creating new items).
- The only field you need to select for Field Selection is the item number.
- You can select your pricing fields from the Field Defaults tab, if you want all items to have the same changes. The fields you want to select here are (with the default values):

'Customer type/Quantity' : Qty purchased
'Discount Markup Quantity 1' : desired value
'Discount Markup Quantity 2' : desired value
'Discount Markup Quantity 3' : desired value
'Discount Markup Quantity 4' : desired value
'Discount Markup Quantity 5' : desired value

- If you want to update the discount amounts as well as the quantities, then you could select the following amount fields and set the desired amounts:

'Discount Markup Amount 1' : desired value
'Discount Markup Amount 2' : desired value
'Discount Markup Amount 3' : desired value
'Discount Markup Amount 4' : desired value
'Discount Markup Amount 5' : desired value
