Hello Lyndon,
When the data was created, the Company Profile option, Report missing department errors, was on by default. If you did not disable this option, you get into this loop. You can’t disable the option now because the Company Profile will not allow you to save changes if the Retained Earnings does not exist.
To get around the message, create a retained earnings account without a Department.
That will allow you to create the new Department and then the new Account.
