Is there a way to import deparments?

I am setting up a new year for a client that needs 48 new departments set up. Since I am not working on live data I would like to be able to set up all the data and test it before I pull it in to the live data. I have the accounts and budgets ready for import but I don't have a way to import the departments.

Ideas?

Sorry, but there is no Import Department function.

You can copy Departments, which makes it easier to create accounts associated with the departments.

If you don't have to set up the accounts (because you have a different process for this), creating departments is quite quick with or without using copy. By the time an import template and file is set up, you probably could do the creation in the same time.

I agree that the copy Departments makes it easy. It is only because I can't work in live data (client is several hundreds of kms away) that I was looking for a process that was quicker since I will now have to do it all twice.

You could probably just send them the department file you create and have them copy it into their data (carefully and after having made a backup).
