Hi Andrew .... I previously installed 9.0 Ledger and had corrupted data while trying to post from our main terminal .... posting from my terminal works fine after your fine folks repaired the data ... I applied the latest 9.0 service pack hoping it would solve the posting issue, everything looked fine, I imported previous history great, no data integrity errors, but I find that I can't load the Financial Reporter .... I get an error "Unable to load Specification Designer (Error 0)".

Help .... it's Dec 31, and I can't print a financial statement of any kind!! Same error on other machines. The 8.1A ledger still works A-OK on non-converted data. Help!!!

Hi Kevin

I had a client with the same problem. It ended up being a problem with the file name LedgerFinRep.exe being longer than 8 characters, and it got saved somehow as Ledger~1.exe. If you see a file with the name Ledger~1.exe and no file named LedgerFinRep.exe in your \softrak\ledger folder, then that is the problem. Rename the file.

But it makes me wonder why this is happening, I thought it may have been a fluke when I saw this at my client.

Hi Kevin,

I think Steve's post identified the problem. We'll take a look at how this might be occurring first thing in the new year.

Enjoy the impending snow storm, and Happy New Year!

Thanks for your patience.

Andrew: I am attempting to install the service pack. "It" keeps telling me that the existing version is not found in the destination directory. I look and it is there. What am I doing wrong????

Hello Sammy,

The service pack is expecting to update Adagio Ledger V9.0A - this is found in the \SOFTRAK\LEDGER subdirectory on whatever drive your Adagio is installed on.

Check carefully - and make sure your drive mapping are set up the way you expect.

Happy New Year!

Andrew: I am trying again to update the Ledger. Although there is a "Ledger" subfile in Softrak the Ledger executes under ALWIN. I have tried both and it still says existing does not exist. I compared the directory mapping to the other modules which I have updated without a hitch. Is there something else?

Hello Sammy,

Change the properties of your Adagio Ledger shortcut to point to \SOFTRAK\LEDGER\LEDGER.EXE if you want it to launch Adagio Lendger V9.0A. \SOFTRAK\ALWIN\ALWIN.EXE is Adagio Ledger V8.1A (or earlier).

Andrew:
Although there is a Ledger subfile in the Softrax folder there is no ledger.exe file. Have I missed the update from 8.1 to 9.0 or does this mean my update of the Lanpack 9.0 hasn't "taken"? I have been exploring to try and figure it out myself but the Lanpack upgrade is marked as installed and I do not remember having any problems. Should I retried installing that?

Something went wrong with the install of Ledger V9.0A. Re-install it and try again.

Andrew: I humbly apologize. I feel very stupid, however I am posting this in case anyone else is quite as stupid. I did not realize that "upgrades" were different from "service packs" and therefore had not installed the upgrades. Hence the brick wall. Sorry to have wasted you time.

Andrew:
I have installed the Ledger update to 9.0. It in turn works fine and the conversion had one clitch. BUT, the problem is the new Ledger only reports 1 Lanpack. We have 40 and they are all 9.0A as downloaded from your site the last time I bought another 10. How do I check to see what version the Lanpacks are? I used the 9.0A serial numbers and install codes to install the upgrades for the Lanpacks and the added 10. Also the new Ledger reports 40 Lanpacks are at 8.0. How can this be?

Hi, Robert,

The LanPak9.0A install didn't complete properly.

Please reinstall it using the serial numbers and install codes for each that Customer Service would have sent to you. There are a couple of things to think about when doing this install.

(1) It is very important that you complete the entire install. I've seen more than one case where someone thought mid-install that they were being told the lanpaks were already installed and have then stopped the install.

Please make sure you keep clicking Next and Update right through to the end of the install.

(2) The other thing to consider is where you are installing to. If you installed the Lanpacks to the local drive when they should be on the network server drive, this would cause a problem. The path when you install is x:\Softrak (where 'x' is the drive the software and lanpaks should be installed to).

Make sure your Adagio installs are done from a workstation that is connected to the server via a LAN.

To confirm that the install was completed properly, run Ledger 9.0. If it still reports one lanpak only, it means the install was not completed properly so reinstall again.

OK, I will try this, but I am sure that the Lanpacks were installed properly. I will download the latest from your web site. Can you let me know the address and passwords to get the newest lanpacks please?
All work stations connect using terminal services so there could be no error to a work station.

I also need the proper routine to set up Adagio on the LAN. We are installing a new server here in Kelowna and will have 19 workstations on a LAN and the other 40 using RDP from all other locations. Are there specific steps in setting up a LAN? We have always used RDP even from the local computers in Delta (file server is moving to Kelowna accounting office). Is there any documentation on this?

Hi, Robert,

We don't post passwords and such over the forum. Please contact Customer Service for this information.

Also, I'd like to recommend you contact your Adagio dealer for support and assistance regarding your new installation.

You'll find information regarding Adagio installs on a network in your Adagio Fundamentals manual. However, your dealer will be able to provide you with information and support more particular to your individual installation.

Hello Robert,

Run \softrak\system\chksys.exe and click the Lanpak Status button. It will give you a full report on your lanpaks installed and their version numbers.

Hi, Robert,

No one should be logged into Adagio at all when you install the Lanpaks.

Hi Kevin,

It's a Service pack, so no install codes are necessary as long as V9.0A is installed. It's been released. Contact customer service if the e-mail has gone astray.

Thanks, received the e-mail with password last night; installed this morning. Had the recurring issue of not being able to run Financial reporter .... went in (as advised after installing the last service pack) and renamed the LedgerFinRep.exe and we're running again. Thanks for the great support!

I've "unstuck" this message so that it drift down to its more normal place in the threads.

There is a final service pack planned for Ledger V9.0A, but we feel that it has settled down enough to dispense with the "front and centre" place that this post held.

Thanks for all your comments.
