Sounds like your anti-virus checker might be getting in the way, especially since you say the LAN light was blinking furiously (sometimes the computers just get busy and appear unresponsive - patience is a virtue).

When Adagio creates a backup, it will report any files it was unable to place in the ZIP. Sounds like someone was in the Ledger, when your most recent backup was made, so the account master file did not get backed up (it was open on another station).
Unless you are desparate to have your financial statements on Monday, why not send us a backup of the damaged data to see if it can be easily repaired. That way you could enjoy the sunny and warm weather you're having while we gaze out on 2 inches of snow blanketing the tulips!
