Hi Susan,

You are right about the file names and have the concept clear. Move you GL*.dat files to another directory, restore the GL*.DAT files from your backup and run an integrity check.

But get you Ledger to a known state before doing the integrity check and trying the posting run again. Use the Windows "Uninstall program" in the control panel to remove Ledger V9.0A and then install your original copy. You then need to install the most recent Service Pack only, no need to install all the intermediate ones. It will make your Ledger programs current.

Oh yes, install the Ledger and Service pack from a workstation, not from the server. Installing on the server sometimes causes the wrong dates and times to be recorded on the Adagio files, and then Service Packs and Upgrades don't install properly. (See the post from Kate Spontak about Sales Analysis.)

My guess is that the data integrity checks and posting processes keep your server so busy that it is not servicing the UPS communication program as frequently as it requires (making the UPS think that the program has stopped running). I'll say it again, there is a significant risk to running application software on your file server. Better to spend a couple of hundred dollars on another machine to let the server perform its true role.
