Hi Support:

Is Adagio equally comfortable with the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office? I'm thinking specifically of Excel (ExcelDirect from grids, FR and GridView; import functions) and Outlook (the "Outlook" email option available in some modules). Thank you.

Hello Bruce,

No, stick to the 32-bit versions.

Hi Support:

I wasn't expecting that answer. I can't remember the last time I had a problem with the bit-ness of Excel with Adagio (maybe all my clients use the 32-bit version). Is this an across-the-board issue or is there a particular function that prevents you from recommending the 64-bit version?

Hello Bruce,

R&D says MAPI and Outlook for email will not work. Excel is also a question. They recommend 32-bit.

I don't think that Adagio (SSI2XL) cares whether Excel is 32 or 64 bit. The MAPI.DLL cares whether Outlook is though - and needs 32-bit.

Just this past week, a user ran into an issue when running a large Financial Reporter Statement Group, with over 35 tabs when exporting to Excel. Excel 365 32bit freezes and after some research we realized that Excel 365 uses more resources than the purchased versions (2016, 2013), therefore has less memory available for the workbook. We ran a test using Excel 365 64bit and it ran perfectly.
