I am doing a bit of cleaning up before upgrading out of the dark ages of windows 2000 into the new age of xp pro.

My shared drive for adagio has the following and I'm wondering if you can tell me what can stay and what can go please. The drive used to be used for accpac years ago and so anything from that can and will be "archived."

PS - If I'm asking too much, just answer the following... what folders should be on an adagio shared network drive?

L:\>dir
Volume in drive L is ???
Volume Serial Number is 35B5-08DB

Directory of L:\

18/12/2009 02:45 PM <DIR> .
13/02/2006 06:36 AM <DIR> ..
14/03/2006 05:06 PM <DIR> Adagio (has only 2 shortcuts to gridview that we already have in it so I think I can delete it??)

Hi,
Looking at your drive listing, the following folders should be left on your Adagio shared network drive, on the root of the logical drive L:

L:\Softrak
L:\QRASP
L:\ASP

It appears that your data and security files are still pointing to the \ASP folder so leave the entire ASP folder on the root of L:

You didn't say but I'm assuming that no one is using Plus for anything at this point in time.

Since you have converted from Plus, you can gas the GLASP, HELP, APASP, MEASP, TBASP folders, and all the leftover trash files accumulating in the root.

There is no reason to keep the plus.exe unless you are using some add-in that is imbedded in the AP or GL folder, but I cannot think of any that would be added. You can confirm that there are no add-ins by viewing the APver.ld4 and GLver.ld4 with notepad.

If you would prefer, cut these files and folders out (that I suggested gassing) and drop into a temporary folder with a date(off the root) for say 6 months and then completely remove.

Regards,
Brian

You need to keep the following directories;

qrasp
Softrak

You have no directory called 'data' so you would need to determine where that is and keep it as well.

You should not have QR* files in the root, they (likely) belong in the qrasp directory but I would not just replace any existing files. Likley if Adagio is working fine then these are junk.

None of the files with numeric extensions (001, etc) are useful.

There are 3 GL data files with CMH extensions dated in 2003. There are no longer useful either.

The .HLP and .CHM help files should be installed elsewhere and not on the root. These are not required here either, and in general are quite old anyway.

As Doug mentioned, the QR files (with QRW extensions) should belong in the QRASP directory. I presume that since these are generally quite old, I bet they are not useful either. Those with TXT extensions are definitely useless and they can be gassed.

Thank you - this worked like a charm - just kept ASP, qrasp and Softrak... and archived the rest just in case.

No, there is no need for plus.
Regarding Data - it appears to be in L:\asp\data.

The finance dep't definitely feels virtually cleaner now. I don't think this drive had been cleaned since at least 03ish.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to confirm but circumstances didn't allow.

Jamie
