How would you go about editing your Departmental Summary Spec file to show only a specified range of departments? Can this be done using the ColSpec for a department range such as 8000-8999?

Hi Lyndon,

If you create a Departmental Range within the View Departments screen, this range can be used any place where selection of individual departments is allowed, such as the toolbar, the Department Print or the Statement Group Print functions. You can also select defined department ranges when creating a 'Departmental Comparison' report when dragging an account group to a blank sheet.

Or if you already have a spec set up and you have a department coded directly in the sheet, you can use the 8000:8999 department range to replace an individual department.

I also discovered that with .RangeDept this does not work with department ranges:
'10:10000-*

This does:
'10:10000-`

'-*' asks for all departments, regardless of what has been chosen in the drop down. '-`' asks that the 'tick' be replaced by the department drop down. '.RangeDept' should work in either case but still follows these rules.

Just to prevent confusion, -` has the backwards apostrophe replaced by the contents of the department drop down. -* does all departments on separate rows.
