The client downloaded DDExporterInstall.EXE (i.e. the Gridview docuementation of tables/structures).
However, when we install it, we recieve an error message: "The file k:\softrak\system could not be opened."

GridView should have already installed it in the \softrak's\gvwin subdirectory. Try the download again if it's not already there.

The main reason that I want this is because on the Softrak site you advertise that we can generate an Excel spreadsheet that will document the tables and what-not.
How do I generate this spreadsheet?
It sounds like it can be quite useful.

It is not in the gvwin subdirectory. I've downloaded the file from your website and tried to install but get the error message refereced above - "The file k:\softrak\system could not be opened." We've recently upgraded to AR 9 and we use gridview. I saw in the release notes that this tool would be helpful so wanted to use it becuase some of our gv reports don't work now with the upgrade.

thanks

The 'DataDictionaryExporter.exe' program file must exist in the \softrak\system directory and it cannot be saved anywhere else. Is this where you have placed the file? If not then try copying it there and try loading it again.

To convert GridView views based on AR8 data to use the AR9 dicationary, you need to open each view (ignoring error messages) using GridView 90A. Then open the view definition (press F4), and re-select the table (Receivables 90A). Then GridView will walk you through the rest of the conversion.

There is a tech note in the Partner area of the website with instructions on how to convert GridView views to be based on Receivables 90A data.

Sorry - Tech Support is right (as usual). DataDictionaryExporter.EXE needs to be in the \Softrak\System directory.
