I am speaking to a prospect that is considering switching to Adagio.
Among the software they are currenlty running, they have Crystal Reports 11. If they want to generate reports from Adagio in Crystal, will we be able to run both versions?

(I mentioned GridView to them as an option, but I would still like to address this issue.)

Adagio ODBC works with Crystal 11. They just won't be able to modify any of the Adagio Reports or add a custom report to the Reports menu without having Crystal Reports for Adagio. I don't believe there's any problem in having both versions installed.

Thanks Andrew.
This leads me to another question: If we do install the Adagio Crystal version, will they be able to write reports in the newer version, or will are we restricted to Version 8.5 (which I believe is the current version for Adagio)?

Hi Sam:

The "Adagio" component of Crystal Reports for Adagio won't work with Crystal 11. The only way they can write reports using Crystal 11 is if they purchase the ODBC module. That serves the same function as the "Adagio" component but without the table names and field names in English.

There may be other technical advantages or disadvantages (I've never tried it). But as Andrew said, they definitely would not be able to run the report from the Inquiries menu within an Adagio module nor from PrintTool. PrintTool actually expects that the .rpt file doesn't use any features beyong Crystal 7.
