Hello:

Our client is running AR 8.0B with multi-currency.

When they try to run AR Year End, the dialogue box indicates that they need to Clear the "Transaction Clearing Posting Journal" report.

When they try to print the "Clearing Posting Journal" report, they see a range of posting sequences but then are told that there is nothing to print.

Clearly the AR Global file is out of synch. Which AR file should be removed?

Thank you.

It will start with the characters 'ARPOST', and all need to have zero bytes. If any do have size greater than zero, try printing each and if nothing works, then remove these ARPOST?? files.

If you open a posting journal screen and see a range of sequences but get a message that there is nothing to print, then a different problem is the case. Adagio Receivables is expecting there to be a file with unpurged sequences (making up that range) and those sequences do not exist in the file. This means that either the ARPOST?? file was deleted manually when it should not have, or the file was purged completely when it may should have only been purged partially.

The usual solution in this case is to post another batch of this type and then purge all sequences, not just the one generated. This will be difficult with the Period End processing as it doesn't always generate transactions.

The other solution is to have the ARGLOB file repaired to reset the purge sequence numbers.

Thank you for your reply.

Your suggestion would work under normal circumstances but, given that it is Year End and they can't wait, I looked for another solution.

A Data Repair would solve the problem. But a faster solution was to edit the AR Global file and reset the posting sequence number using an external editor.

For the record, I discovered that the problem existed in the client's ACCPAC Plus data from BEFORE it was converted to Adagio.

The problem is now solved.
