Is there a gridview report which I can draw from inventory that will show me the quantity on hand, by location?

There isn't a report just like this in sample data. However, you can create one yourself.

Create a new view, Adagio Inventory 8.0a/b module, then select the I/C Item Locations table. From there select the Item #, Location and Qty on Hand Plus fields. You will probably want to save your view 'without' data and for the view to refresh on open. Give your view a name.

After you create the view, you can select the Item # column and set the sort order. Then when the sigma/summarize button in the toolbar is selected, you will be able to see the total qty on hand for all locations for each item also. This is a toggle button.
