=DATESTRING(ADGET("gldates.END","C12"),"%Y")
What is wrong with this formula for an ending balance on the selected date as of e.g. October 31, 2006. It looks like it's giving me the previous year balance even if the column heading shows 2006.

Hi Eva,

This formula is looking at the 'gldates.END' field, which is the ending date from the fiscal calendar. The second part 'C12' indicates the 12th period for the current year. Surrounding with the DATESTRING function and the %Y parameter means only printing the year. So the result of this formula would be to print the year of the end of the 12th fiscal period. Is this what you want to get?

This formula will not affect any of your balances or financial figures. If you see what you feel are incorrect values, you'd need to let us know the formula in the cell where the dollar amount is, rather than the year formula.

If you are doing a balance sheet and want the balance as of the end of a period (selected from the toolbar), the formula would be =ADGET("gldata.BAL",{accounts})

My formula in the field is this: =ADGET("GLDATA.BAL_Y",$B11)
I need to see the current balance of whatever period is selected in period field.

Hi Eva,

When you are in the Financial Reporter, from the View menu, pick Account Data. This is the place that lists all of the available Field Codes and what amounts will be reported on.

If you look in the section 'Account Balance as of', you will find:
BAL_Y is the 'Opening Balance This Year'
BAL is the 'Bal. Ending Selected Period'

So it would seem to be an easy fix.
- If you are using a SmartSheet, Collapse it.
- Highlight the column with this formula
- From the Edit menu, pick Replace. Replace .BAL_Y with .BAL

Now you should see the ending balance in your selected fiscal period, rather than the opening balance.
