I am trying to find out sales for each customer for last year. If I go into Accounts Receivable, and click on "Customer", then click on the "Statistics" tab, there is an area there that shows me sales "this year" and "LY"

What report do I build (I tried so many in GridView but cannot find any field that is simply sales). I can get almost any other kind of infomation, but short of building a GridView report that lists both invoices and credit notes, and then having to total each customer, I am at a loss.

Thank you.

Hi Barb,

Why not open GridView, select Receivables | Customers, and chose the fields; Cust #; Name; YTD Invoices? Isn't that the information you are looking for?

If you issue a lot of credit notes, then you'd also choose the YTD Credit notes and create a calculated column subtracting the credit notes from the invoices to get net sales.

I do know I can do that, and will do it if necessary. My point was that there is this lovely field, right in the Receivables data, and I cannot seem to access it. Seems wrong.

Hi Barb,

The fields you see in Customer Statistics for Sales This Year and Sales Last Year are actually calculated values (rather than stored in the data). This is why you don't see these available for selection in GridView. You also won't see these as selectable if you use the Column Editor for the customer list. Not every amount you see listed on an Adagio screen is a stored data value but rather is calculated on the fly (another such value is Inventory quantity on hand for items across all locations and costing lots).

This is the reason for Andrew's suggestion - you need to do the same calculation for YTD or LY invoices + debit notes - credit notes.

Typicallly a more accurate report would be one based upon the Sales Analysis data.

Sales Analysis data together with Crystal reports are the best option.
