What would be the reasons for this to happen?
They go into Inventory, Item Inquiry, Press F6,
the columns say Item #, Description, Qty on Hand
They choose Qty on Hand is greater than 0.
And nothing comes up. There are negatives showing on the item valuation report. DIC is clean. Up to date on service packs.
I have also re-set the column editor. Does this on each work station.

Hi Carol,

While I don't think this is going to be much help - I thought it would still be nice to get a reply :-)

I tested your scenario and it works fine for me. The only comments I have are:

<> Are you sure that the field chosen is really "Qty On Hand" and not "Qty on Hand 1" or one of the other 4 quantity on hand fields that may be around when using the FIFO or LIFO costing methods ?

<> Have you tested on Sample Data ? Does the Sample Data have the same problem ?

Hi Peter,
I had thought of that, so when I was there I brought up all of the qty on hand fields, and still no negatives.
It does work on sample data.

Hi Carol,

Unfortunately, displaying the Qty On Hand field in the Item Inquiry grid vs. the Smart Finder Grids and vs. the Item Valuation Report gives inconsistent results. Here's what I believe is causing you grief:

<> The Item Valuation Report correctly reports items with negative quantities
<> The Item Inquiry grid showing Qty On Hand also correctly shows the items with negative quantities
<> However, if you launch the Smart Finder, add Qty On Hand to the grid and ask for Qty On Hand less than 0.00 it finds nothing

Reason: My findings indicate that the Smart Finder, though told to use "Qty On Hand" seems to be using "Qty on Hand 1".

Therefore, if you have a situation whereby the TOTAL quantity for some items are < 0 but the quantity on hand for Lot 1 for ALL items are => 0 - the Not-So-Smart Finder will find nothing.

If your user has GridView you could use that to get the results you want in grid form but I suspect you really wanted the Smart Finder to do it so that you could the Drill down to the inquiry windows to investigate the items further.

Not much we can do about that until Softrak gives us the fix - Let's hope they read this post :-)

Hello Carol and Peter,

The Quantity on Hand field is not stored in the dataset. It is a calculated field and it was added so that you can use the finder to quickly see whether there is stock on hand.

Peter, you are correct. When you search on this field in the Smartfinder, it is using the quantity from the first Lot.

This issue is on the wishlist.
