Good day Forums and Happy Holidays!
I'm having trouble with two problems:
#1. I recently upgraded to OrderEntry v9.3A, but now every time I backup all Adagio data, there are always errors for OrderEntry and SalesAnalysis AND the backup pretty much fails. Attached are the results of our backup.
#2. After the upgrade, our data has historical orders, invoices and credit notes with missing items and comments. I found a good backup of these transactions from a few days ago, so is there a way to copy just the historical transactions from a backup into our data?

Hello,

I don't know where the text files that you attached are coming from, but they don't look like any backup that Adagio does either from the File | Backup menu choice or from a DataCare backup. You need to check the documentation you have on the backup you are creating. It looks like the backup is just replacing files (since it shows some being deleted before their replacements are added). This is a bad idea. Adagio backups should be new ZIP's of the whole set of data files.

Nothing in the conversion should delete any orders or lines from orders. Your Adagio consultant may be able to "stitch in" the historical orders if they are important to you, but it is not a simple process.

Also, there was a recent Service Pack to OrderEntry 9.3A (181214). Please confirm that this is the version we are talking about.

Hello Andrew,

Yes, we are using OrderEntry 9.3A with the (2018.12.14) service pack. The text files are the results from our File | Backup | Complete Dataset.

The upgrade was performed on December 19, 2018, and I did several successful manual backups on and before that day. But after the upgrade, the first backup I performed had the replacement error you described. This is the first time that our backups have replaced files. If there's a way to stop replacing files, please let me know. I've attached two more screenshots of our options and complete backup menu.

I was worried that it would be difficult to "stitch in" the historical orders. They are very important to us. I might see what I can do in the time being before our staff return from holidays as my bosses are expecting results.

Sincerely,
Terrence

Update from later in the day;

I've been working on two data sets throughout today:
- Data Set #1 was used last week until December 21st to enter orders; which had the missing lines in historical transactions and the problem with replacing files during the backup.
- Data Set #2 is from a December 19th backup. This data set has no orders entered between Dec. 20th – 21st, but it does have all the historical orders intact and I’m able to execute the Complete Backup command which created a usable zip file.

So now I'm left with a choice to discuss with my consultant, how can I combine the two data sets so everything is working:
- All recent orders are available
- Historical orders can be accessed
- With no backup issues.

I’ll check when our consultant can help me.

Another update;

@ Andrew, could you get in touch with Kerry Gullins? He is working on plan repair our Adagio data if we cannot find another solution by Wednesday.

Hello Terrence,

You should check M:\Databack and perhaps clear out some of the backup files there. Perhaps your backup sequence number has been reset and you are updating existing backups rather than creating new ones. You should also make sure that there is plenty of disk space available on M:\

I would work with your consultant to see whether there is an explanation for the missing lines and/or orders. Have your staff seen any unusual messages while entering orders?

How often do you run the Data Integrity Check? Based on the size of the ZIP files displayed in your Backup Options, I expect that it takes some time to run the DIC. You might want to discuss using DataCare to run DIC overnight and backup your data automatically. Kerry Gullins can install an evaluation copy on your system so you can see how it works.

There is no particular rush in stitching in the historical orders. They are not going anywhere. If it is imperative that they be visible for the day-to-day operation of the department, then you can spin up the files where they reside in another Folder for people to inquire into. Just be SURE to change the desktop colour of the inquiry data so that people so don't inadvertently enter new orders into the inquiry database.

As I said earlier, stitching in the old orders will be difficult, so you should decide how critical they are. The bill could easily be a couple of thousand dollars.

Sorry, but our office is closed until January 2.
