Hi, I am creating a custom crystal report where one of the parameters is dynamically linked to the customer master list of accounts. This way the report will conveniently always have all the customer accounts available for selection.

Crystal has a limitation by default of 1000 entries that it will list for dynamically linked parameters. It can be changed by adding a value in the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV\ as described here.

However the limitation is back in place once the report is placed in the customreport folder and run from AR. Is there another place in the registry that I should be making this edit so that adagio modules are not subject to this limit? We have many clients with 1000+ customer accounts or items which could be dynamically linked to parameters in the same way.

Hi Warren,

The registry entry is HKEY_LOCALMACHINE. It shouldn't matter if you just run from a separate Folder on the same computer. However, if you take the RPT to another machine you'll have to edit its Registry.

Also, did you see the comment about 32 vs 64 bit?

Hi Andrew, I think you might have meant to copy a longer key name? My windows 8.1 PC does not have any key called HKEY_LOCALMACHINE, only HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.

I am running the module I'm testing with on the same PC as I am running the report designer from. AR's preview of the same report file has the default number of parameter suggested values (1000) while the report designer respects my registry edit (up to 10,000).

I have added MaxRowSetRecords values in the following places:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\DatabaseOptions\LOV

The Wow6432Node one is what made the difference for the report designer.

No ideas? Hopefully there aren't too many other inconsistencies between the Crystal Reports designer's and Adagio's interpretations of reports...

Perhaps you should be asking SAP about the difference between the Designer and the Viewer?
