Thank you for your response to my previous posting Andrew.

I need a report that provides by category and job total for a specific job or a series of jobs:

Budgeted cost
Actual cost
Variance (+ or -) between budgeted and actual cost

This is the most basic report I would expect from a job costing program and I am extremely disappointed that it was not included in the original release. It never crossed my mind that a report as basic as this would not be included.

When is the next release expected and what is the likelihood of having this report included?

Hi Barry French,

What columns would you like displayed on the report? Would you need a subtotal on change of Phase too?

Hi Andrew,

The columns I would like displayed on the report are (left to right):
1) Current direct cost estimate
2) Total direct cost incurred
3) Variance (+ or -)

No, I do not need a subtotal on change of Phase.

Thanks

Hi Barry,

The Direct Cost Analysis report will get you very close to what you are asking for. It prints the Original and Current Estimated cost for each job estimate, a percent complete and adjusted Current Estimated cost, the Total Cost Incurred, and a difference between Estimated and Actual Costs incurred. The report can be filtered to select only those estimates that have a certain % variance, and can be based on Total Cost, Unit Cost or Units.

I think the difference in what you are asking for and what this report provides is in the 'Adjusted Estimated Cost' (based on % complete) being compared to the Actual Cost incurred, rather than the 'raw' Current Estimated Amount.

Hopefully this may be useful in the interim.

Thank you for your suggestions. I am aware of the direct cost analysis report but unfortunately a variance based on adjusted estimate provides no useful information for my purposes and the filters are not flexible enough to be able to work it into what I need.

When is the next release expected and what is the likelihood of having the report I have described included?

Hi Barry

Not to be too apologetic for Softrak, but you shouldn't come down too hard on them on this issue. Their first priority in writing Adagio JobCost was to make sure that everything that was doable in ACCPAC Plus Job Cost was also doable in Adagio, and there was no such report in Plus JC. They went above and beyond this base requirement in the first release, just not in the reports area.

However, I agree that this should be a standard report, and when Softrak gets around to improving the reports, I hope they take your suggestion.
