Good morning,

I copied my operations statement report and renamed it. I want to re-calculate revenues and expenses and budget each month and year to date according to the number of performance dates for each period. This will hopefully provide me with a very rough KPI.

Everything went very well for the first hour or two and I was an accounting genius. Now I can't get things to work and I am an unhappy semi-genius.

For each accounting period I am holding the number of Performance Dates constant. So, for instance, in one of the cells I've typed =ADGET("GLDATA.Y",$B122)/$I$9 It's a lovely formula and I'm so fond of it I would like to copy it down the balance of the column EXCEPT Adagio tells me I can't because that cell is a generated number EVEN THOUGH it accepted the formula and its repetition earlier.

To add insult to injury, at random intervals the program shuts down for no apparent reason and I lose everything I've just manually entered. Not being unteachable, I started to save after every third or fourth formula creation. Imagine my feelings when I discovered at the end of the day that that wasn't working. I have to hit "Save As" and over-write the existing file before my changes are actually saved.

I can't even edit the existing formula, I have to type it in from scratch each time.

So if you have words of wisdom or direction, I'd love to hear them. I feel that the solution must be user error because no one could create such a goofy system on purpose.

Cheers,
Candace

Candace:

Collapse your statement and then do the copy and edits. You cannot copy/edit when the statement is expanded.

Candace:

The idea is to have one formula that will work for all rows when the range is expanded. You put that formula in the collapsed row and then it is copied to every row created when you expanded the statement.

If you don't fully understand how the expand/collapse process works then it's going to be difficult to help you in this forum. You may want to contact your Adagio dealer for some training.

You can't, unless you don't use ranges but individual accounts.

Hi Candace,

The very first thing that the financial reporter does when you click Update, or press F9 is to delete all the generated rows. You don't want to be pasting formulas (or anything else) into them since it will be deleted the next time you refresh the statement. Collapse the statement and do the edits in the rows containing the ".Range" command in column "A". The formulas will be correctly generated when the rows are re-generated.
