Is there a way to print custom reports which are in the CustomRP folder in a manner similar to the way reports can be printed using the Report Set function.

The client is purchasing Adagio Console and would include these custom reports in an Automation file if that would be the solution.

Thanks

Steve

Steve:

I could be wrong but I don't think there is a way to add a CustomRP report to a report set, would be nice though for the purpose you stated.

The workaround would be to use PrintTool to create a short cut for the report then copy the command line from the short cut to your Console batch file.

Hi Doug

Thanks for that answer - it is definitely worth pursuing.

This client recently migrated to a new server and Crystal Reports for Adagio is not installed, so there is no RPWIN folder. Is there a way to install PrintTool other than from the CRA CD?

Steve:

If you don't have an RPWIN folder then I believe the only answer is an install of CRA.

Would I be OK copying the RPWIN folder from old server to the new and running the workstation setup?

I've never tried but I think you would be okay.

Copying the RPWIN folder and running PTSetup.exe worked - I now have a PrintTool shortcut.

I was able to create a batch file that launches PrintTool and opens a specific report. But even though I put /u, /p, /d, /e and /r parameters in the batch file, the program still pauses on the date field, requiring me to click on Open to continue (Help | Command Line Parameters specifically says it should not pause here!), and then it stops again to wait for me to pick a Destination option.

This is going to be unacceptable if I want to run a Crystal report unattended.

Does this mean that I can't use PrintTool in a Console batch to run Crystal reports, or am I missing something?

If not, what can I try next?

Hi Steve,

PrintTool was not designed for unattended printing - it was designed to allow placing a specific report on someone's desk.

You'll have to wait for an Upgrade to have that functionality added. The suggestion has already been added.

Sorry.

Hello Steve,

I'm happy to say that we managed to implement unattended printing in PrintTool 9.2A release with Adagio Ledger 9.2A today. Reports printed by Adagio PrintTool 9.2A must be defined using Adagio ODBC and Crystal Reports 2011/2013.

So you'll be able to offer this functionality to your client shortly.

Thanks Andrew

Did you mean "designed" using Adagio ODBC and Crystal Reports? Or did you really mean "defined"?
