I just installed GV 9.2 and the ExcelDirect does not seem to be working.

GV is installed on the server and Excel 2010 is installed on my computer.

I have allowed export.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot.

Update: I found the file and it is a .csv file.
How do I get the file to open directly in Excel?

If you click on an XLS file, does Excel launch on that machine?

It sounds like that you have configured the Excel Direct process to go to a CSV file rather than Excel. If you did this for some place within Adagio, that affects all Excel Direct, including GridView.

In your \Softrak\System directory, look for a file SSI2XL.ini. If you have this file, edit it with Notepad to see if there is a line:
ForceCSV=1

If there is, you can disable this by putting two forward slashes // in front of it and saving. And that would correct the export to Excel.

If this isn't the situation for you, we'd need more information. Do you use Excel Direct within other Adagio programs and do they behave the same way? Do other users in Adagio have the same problem?

My colleague can print direct to Excel on his workstation. We are both using The same version of Excel and OS7

I tried reinstalling. I also ran a repair for Office. Still can't use ExcelDirect.

I could previously.

Any ideas?

The fact that no one has posted a further reply likely means no one has any further suggestion on how to solve this problem. Troubleshooting problems like this is very difficult over the forum. Your Adagio consultant should be able to help you out with this problem.

Is OS 7 32 or 64 bit on both machines?
Is Office/Excel 2010 32 or 64 on both machines?
Are you both using GridView X32 or X64?

There was an issue with GridView X64 hooking to Excel 32 that will be address in future releases.

For the brave you may try "tweeking the registry"

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00020812-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
@="Microsoft Excel Application"
"AppID"="{00020812-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00020812-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}\LocalServer]
@="<path on your system>\\EXCEL.EXE /automation"

Changing <path on your system> to something like

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14

Thank you.

This could very well be the problem.
