Hello,

The Clear Paid Transactions by Period End is not working properly any more. From the data that I was trouble shooting the problem seems to have started somewhere around Feb/March (maybe the result of an update).

When the procedure is run repeatedly, with the same clearing date, it will clear a few transactions each time but not everything that it is supposed to. It might clear 2 of 20, then 1 of 18, then 3 of 17, then it might clear all 14. It's crazy !!! Some accounts seem to clear fine but not others. Could not spot any common differences between the accounts that work and those that don't.

Eventually we just switched to Plus and ran the Period End there and everything cleared no problem so I would guess that there's nothing wrong with the data (DIC shows no errors).

Strange though I would have thought that this would have been spotted/reported long before now if it is a bug.

I will upload some data for you to look at but thought it might be useful to post the problem here and see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing.

Peter

False Alarm !!! My appologies to all

I just decided to test the data (that I was about to upload), on my PC here at home and Adagio worked like a dream.

Something's up at the client site even though they are using the same version as I am here at home AR 6.8B (040507).

The behaviour (as described in original post) is so bizzare. Does not seem like it would be a network issue. Process runs with no errors clearing some but not all. Every time the process is re-run a few more things are cleared. Hmmmm...

Anyhow, back to the drawing board. Maybe I'll start by trying the process with data on the local drive and take it from there...

Wish me luck ... Peter

Hello Peter,

It might not be a false alarm.

Could you right mouse click on SOFTRAK\SYSTEM\ADS.DLL, select Properties, then Version and post the version number here?

You may find the problem disappears when you install their Ledger upgrade (assuming that they run Ledger and are on an Upgrades Plan).

Hi Andrew,

You mean I don't have to feel quite so embarrassed

Their ADS.DLL is indeed different than mine. Their version: 1.9.46.2123
My version: 1.9.46.2135

Though I have downloaded the new Ledger NFR, I have not installed it yet and therefore our Ledger versions are the same - 8.0A (040223). However I have installed the latest BankRec 6.8B (040625) so maybe that updated my ADS.DLL. Hold on, I'll check ...

And I thought you were just another pretty face

I found the old ADS.DLL (2123) in the BR Backup folder; renamed current file (2135) and copied the old one into the SYSTEM folder; restored and tested the data and the problems were back; put back the 2135 version and all is well again.

The client is on an upgrade plan (isn't everyone) and Plus cleared last month's info. so I'll leave the client site alone until we upgrade Ledger - Unless you think there are other implications / problems with the old ADS.DLL (2123).

Thanks for the pointer and have a great day,

Pete

Hello Peter,

We discovered a problem when mass-deleting large numbers of records (as when clearing notes or transactions), and fixed it prior to the notification of the Service Pack for Receivables. However, there was a version of Receivables with this problem on our web site for a few days, and it sounds as if your clients were "eager beavers" and downloaded the update. You can fix the problem on their site by downloading the Srvice Pack again and re-installing it.

Sorry you ran into this - we don't think there are many people affected (in fact, we thought it possible that no one was affected), and the impact of the problem is small (items that you are trying to delete don't get deleted).
