Is there a way to stop the Actual Ship Date from linking to the system date? I entered an order yesterday, put in the actual ship date (08/29/13) and saved it as an order - I had to double check some pricing. When I opened it today to invoice, the Actual Ship Date had changed to todays' date. I understand the Invoice Date being tied to the the system date, but the ship date should be independent.

Thanks

Hi, Mike,

The Actual Ship Date is linked to the session date (the date entered when you log into OE).

When an order is created, you are specifying your Expected Ship Date. This date does not change regardless of the date of the invoice. The Actual Ship Date field only becomes active when something is shipped. Most often, this is the same time as the item is invoiced.

Both the Invoice Date and the Actual Ship Date default from the date you choose to enter when you log into OE. This is a default only and may be edited within the document.

The Expected Ship Date on the Header is the date that defaults to the field of the same name within each Detail item record. It can be changed though. For example, for items that are shipped prior to the document being invoiced, the date could be set to be the date the item was shipped not invoiced.

I'm curious. Are you partially shipping but not invoicing items? Is this the concern? Are you wanting the date to print on a particular document? If so, the item's Expected Ship Date can be printed using D71 and could be useful.

Let us know so we can better enter a suggestion for you.

I have already made a suggestion for having a choice of what the 'Actual Ship Date' defaults to. I thought it was an independent field that used the invoice date as a default initially (the 'Expected Ship Date' would be better for us). What I hadn't realized when I made the suggestion was that it was linked to the session date (invoice date), so that when the session date changed, so did the actual ship date. This is fine for retailers and a lot of wholesalers, who invoice at the same time an item is shipped. But as we are a custom manufacturer, we invoice two to three days after an item has been shipped.

Our work around has been to use the expected ship date as the actual ship date. I realize that we are in the minority so this is not likely to change in the immediate future , but it would be nice to have a choice as to what the actual ship date defaults to.

Thanks
