Hi, Mike,
The Actual Ship Date is linked to the session date (the date entered when you log into OE).
When an order is created, you are specifying your Expected Ship Date. This date does not change regardless of the date of the invoice. The Actual Ship Date field only becomes active when something is shipped. Most often, this is the same time as the item is invoiced.
Both the Invoice Date and the Actual Ship Date default from the date you choose to enter when you log into OE. This is a default only and may be edited within the document.
The Expected Ship Date on the Header is the date that defaults to the field of the same name within each Detail item record. It can be changed though. For example, for items that are shipped prior to the document being invoiced, the date could be set to be the date the item was shipped not invoiced.
I'm curious. Are you partially shipping but not invoicing items? Is this the concern? Are you wanting the date to print on a particular document? If so, the item's Expected Ship Date can be printed using D71 and could be useful.
Let us know so we can better enter a suggestion for you.
