Hello PLASTICBAGS!

By "certain reports", are you referring to management reports (batch listings, trial balances, etc), financial statements, or forms (invoices, order confirmations, statements etc)?

If financial statements are not centered on the page, this is usually because you have blank columns on the right of the statement. Delete the columns and the report will be centered.

Hi John,

I take it that this is only on a couple of reports, not every report in Receivables? Does the report appear to be OK if you "Preview" it? Are you changing the printer just before you print the report, or are you printing to the default printer? As I note that this is a new printer, have you downloaded the most current device driver from the manufacturer's web site?

Hello John

Also, you may want to check your Windows Display Settings - make sure it is not set to use 'Large Fonts'.

This strange behaviour has been reported before, although only when printing Designer generated documents (such as Statements in AR) - however, I am not going to rule it out here, since that one came as such a surprise! The setting has been more related to Adagio Windows not displaying all the buttons and/or text on it's screens - we have had at least 3 reports of this strange behaviour when a particular station is using 'Large Fonts'.

This setting can be viewed/changed by:
-Right click on an empty space on the Desktop
-Select Properties
-Select the Settings tab
-Click on the Advanced Button (at bottom)
-Under Display-Font Size see what is selected. It should be set to 'Small Fonts' or 'Normal Size (96dpi).

If this is not relevant, then you could check the version of the CRPE32.DLL being used. This file can be found:

Win98: C:\Windows\System
WinNT, W2000 and XP: C:\Windows\System32

The version Adagio installs and uses is V7.0.100.15 dated 06-21-99. If you find another version in this local Windows folder, you can rename it, then copy the one from the Softrak\System\WIN32 folder on the drive where the full Adagio programs were installed.

Hope this helps!

Regards

Hi again Andrew.

You are correct in assuming that this problem only occurs in a couple of reports in AR. All reports appear ok when previewed. I'm not changing the printer in any of the reports, I always use the default printer which is the HP Laserjet 1000. I'm running the latest driver for this printed and have talked to the people there and they completely rule out the printer as the problem. (are we surprised?)

John

Hi John,

In addition to checking the settings suggested by Tech Support, perhaps you could fax an example report to Softrak (Attn: Andrew Bates).

(No, we're not surprised...)

Hello John,

OK - I have the faxed reports. A couple more questions:

1) If you print a report that would fit on only a single page, does it print properly? (Try listing the A/R Terms File.)

2) If you print an Aged Trial Balance for only a single customer, does it print properly (assuming a single customer's transactions will fit on a page)?

3) Does a Print Preview show the report formatted correctly (occupying the whole page), before it prints incorrectly?

Hello John

I am sure there is nothing wrong with the printer itself. These things normally are pinned down to either a setting in Windows or the printer driver itself.

You say you are using the latest driver for the HP1000 - are you using the version 6 of the 'PCL' emulation then? There are known issues when using PCL6 - the recommendation is to use PCL5 - there are no known issues with this earlier version that we are aware of. The problems associated with the PCL6 version vary, this may be another one of them.

ALso - can you please confirm if you checked the Fonts setting in the Display Settings area? It would be helpful to know if this was an issue or not, although I suspect not. I have also heard where the 'first time around' after changing the setting back to Small Fonts may not work until after you reboot the PC.

If these suggestions still do not help, could you tell us:
- Is this printer actually connected to the Server on a Network, or locally to your PC?
- Is there a printer 'switch' involved that is used to 'switch' between this printer and another?
- Does the problem happen consistently, every time the report is printed - or intermittently?
- Does any other station exhibit this problem when printing this same AR Overdue Receivables report?
- What version of Windows are you running on your station?

Another indication that this has more to do with a setting, cable or printer card etc than Adagio is that it does preview just fine - only when the actual print out is done does it exhibit the problem...however, because it only shows up in the Adagio report - this is a problem nevertheless.

Thanks for any additional information. I am going to test this printer driver with this report on my station (W2K).
