Hello,

The following error message always shows up when we want to get our the purchase order window. Can anyone let me know if there is a serious issue there regarding our database or not? Also how can we get rid of this message?

Unable to write to \IRWinForms.ini

Thanks,

Mavis

Hi Mavis,

Perhaps this file is marked 'Read only' and you are not able to update it. Or perhaps your network security does not let you deal with files with an extension of INI.

Are you sure this is the correct file name? Can you confirm your version of PO? I could not find a file of this name on my system. The only place I did find this was in referece to version 2.1 of PO where this file maintained the size of each window that opens in PO.

I did find IRRspecs.ini in the data directory. This file is a required PO data file that lists the paths to all the reports and specifications used by Purchase Orders. This is more of a network or rights issue, not a corrupted database issue.

You may want to have someone investigate if there are any errors on your network, setup or otherwise, considering that you had data corruption in OE the other day that probably is related to your network or user rights.

POA 8.1a (091029)

IRwinforms.ini is located in c:\ and c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\roaming\POA. The users file gets updated each use of POA, but receive the error "Unable to write to \IRwinforms.ini. User with administrative rights does not get the error message and both instances of the file are updated with each use of POA. The file at C:\ contains only basic information and seems to never change, except the time stamp is updated.

The locations David referred to are not normal locations for this file. It shoul dbe in;

C:\Documents and Settings\%Login_Name%\Application Data\POA
c:\Windows

Users do need read write access to both locations.

This file is updated regularly. I am using the current versions on POA.

It depends on the operating system in use.

WinXP: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\POA

Win7 (and presumably Vista): c:\users\USERNAME\appdata\roaming\POA

Depending on your environment, give the user write access to either of these directories and you should be fine.

Hi Ryan!

We have this issue, too, so I am glad to see a solution offered. My question is:

We have WinXP. How do I assign the appropriate rights?

I also have this problem. I set up a new user and they cannot print from any Adagio programs. Where do I go to fix this problem for this user? I have set up other users previously and I always have a problem and have to have someone else come in and fix it. I'd like to know how to fix it myself. I am not a computer guru or even that comfortable changing things, but I need to know how to do this.

Thanks for your help.

Denise:

Because you are not a computer guru or even comfortable changing things then you really do need to get someone else to come in and fix this for you.
