Good Day All,
I'm converting from ACCPAC to Adagio and wondered if anyone knows how to shrink already compressed data. Tried in AR by printing all posting journals no change in size of data, in OE tried Day End and printing audit list, tried purging history and tried printing the order action and order log still no changes....an any one help!

DataCare includes a data file compression utility.

How does this work, as DataCare isn't responding due to the company I'm trying to shrink data for doesn't have this module, thus the path is not there to open the module to begin with....is there a way to get this done so I can access this module and use the compression utiliy?

There are settings in the company profile that control whether the compression stage is run. Set the "free space" to 1% and then check the data integrity using DataCare. The indexed files will be compressed. You might also see whether there are any REALLY large files in the data space and post their names here. Sometimes companies have decades of Order Entry history that they've never looked at.

Tried all the above, still no change to size any data. Is there another way of shrinking the respective data from the modules????? Is there something I have to download etc????

Purge some history? What are the names of the large files (from Windows Explorer)?

If you haven't actually converted the data from Plus yet and you have FixIT, that utility also has a file compression component.

Generally you would
<> Ensure that you have a good backup of the system
<> Run the Data Integrity Checks. Hopefully clean, but at least establish a baseline
<> Print and clear all Posting Journals/Audit Lists
<> Print and clear all other reports that allow this
<> Backup & DICs
<> Purge all unwanted historical data from the various modules
<> Backup & DICs
<> Delete any master file records that that you nor the system no longer needs
<> Backup and DICs
<> Run the File Compression utilities like DataCare / FixIT
<> Backup and DICs

Note that Print above does not necessarily mean to paper, you might want or need to print to a file rather than paper. If printing to file you might want to save these files somewhere other than your "live" ACCPAC Plus/Adagio Data folder.

Good Luck !!!

Purged history already, still nothing

Some of the large name files are OEHLIN'R.NEW, DCHISD'R.NEW, ARTRAS'R.NEW AND GLBTAD'R.NEW

OEHLIN'R is the file containing the line details for historical Invoices and Credit Notes. This file is purged according to the options in the Company Profile | Optional/Specs tab (at the bottom). Check the Document Date on the Maintenance | Purge History function when you purge history.

ARTRAS'R is the Receivables transaction file. You need to purge history from there too. The transactions are purged either by billing cycle or period end. Date options are in the company profile.

DCHISD'R is the DataCare History log. Delete old history using the Hisory Maintenance menu in DataCare.

GLBTAD'R is the file of GL transaction batches. It will be purged at the end of the year.

BTW, given the price of disk space today, is there a reason that the file sizes are a problem?
