Hi,
This function does not seem to be working properly. I used it to mark hundreds of customers inactive but it seems to have skipped many many customers. Trying again to do them, even individually using this function, I'm still not able to accomplish it. The data for the customer I'm using for my example shows no transactions past year 2000, but ONLY if I use today's date will it allow me to mark it inactive this way. If I use Jan 1, 2007 as the last posting date it will not show up. When it did show up using todays date and I clicked on the details it showed more active activity - which is not accurate.

Since I have so many customers to mark inactive I think this is a simpler way of doing it rather than "one by one" or importing and exporting the file. Any suggestions as to either what I'm doing wrong, or if there is a known problem with this function?

Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen,

I presume you are using Adagio Receivables version 90A because this was when this Mark Customers Inactive function was introduced. Can you confirm which service pack release you are using, from Help/About.

There are no known errors with this function, so we would need to know more about how you are using this.

- Which options do you have selected when you run this? Specifically the ranges and whether the 'historical transactions' option is selected.

- The 'last activity date' is more than just the last posting date. It could also include if the customer was edited.

- Do customers have current transactions? If so, they will never be selected by this function, even if they net to $0.00 for the customer balance outstanding.

If you could give an example of the options you have selected for Mark Customers Inactive, and indicate what balance and transactions and Last Activity Date exist for a customer that you expected to be selected but wasn't, we can determine where to go from here.

I'm using AR 90A. Version 1.12.54.2551.

I did not check off "exclude customers with historical transactions".

The customers I am referring to "had" no current transactions when I first ran the report.

I see now though, that I can only use "todays" date because just by looking at the customers and running a customer transaction report (to see if I was nuts) has made them appear as if they have had activity "today".

Hmmmm........I would have loved to have used this feature. Still can't figure out why when I ran it the first time it skipped hundreds of customers that fell within the parameters I chose to mark as inactive.
It is possible that I did something wrong when I ran it the first time. I found the feature by accident and was thrilled to see it - and never asked for instructions assuming it to be intuitive. Oh well.

One customer I tried to change had a last activity date of 8/1/04. Another customer had a last transaction date of 12/31/1999. Unfortunately both of those examples are now showing up as last transaction as of today - because I ran reports on them.

Hi Karen,

Running a report for a customer would not change the 'last activity date' for a customer. But if you edited a customer and then clicked OK, this is considered editing the customer and would affect the customer's activity status. This is stored in the 'Last Maintenance Date' on the customer record - the last time the customer was edited, and by who.

When Mark Inactive Customers is used and a number of customers are selected, you have to 'Mark' them to change the inactive status. Then the 'Process' button becomes available and this is what changes the Active status of the customer.
