Hello All,

I have a client whom is accessing Adagio in a server environment, but is having an issue with Invoices.

When they go to post Invoices from one computer on the server, a message comes up saying that they are using an invalid data path and a reference to 1212, which is a clearing acct. they use. However, of course the path should be correct as they are able to access the same data everyone else is getting into, just a hang up with the post function. All other functions as well as reports seem to be fully accessible.

Anybody have any similiar issues or ideas???

Thanks,

D/C

Hi D/C,

Does the error message start with 'Critical error 1212'? If so, then the problem is related to missing or incorrect dictionaries in the \softrak\dict directory. When posting in Adagio Invoices, this would require not only the correct Invoices dictionaries but also A/R and I/C, and Job cost if you use that. If anything is out of synch, this would result in the error you received.

That you have a clearing account number 1212 is likely coincidental.

When did you start receiving this error? Likely very recently.
Did you do any recent installations with Adagio or 3rd party applications that writes to the dictionary directory?
You mentioned the error occurs from one computer on the server. Are there other computers for which this works? And do they use the same network mapping as the one that gives the error?

Hello Softrak

You are correct, the error message starts with "Critical Error 1212." They have just started seeing this error in the past few days.

There was a recent install done by the client of Adagio Invoices only(they had a tower replaced).

The other computers on the network are able to perform the posting of Invoices just fine, witht eh same mapping.

What would be the likely cause of the \softrak\dict directory issue??

Let me know if you need any more info

Thanks,

D/C

Hi, Darcy,

An error 1212 relates to dictionary files, generally that the file has a 'mismatched' date (i.e. the file has the date of the date of the install and not the date of the file). This often happens when installs are done directly at the server while logged onto the server.

What is the version(release date) of invoices the site is using?

Also, what happens when this user of the workstation experienciing the problem runs Invoices by drilling down to the mapped drive on the server using Windows Explorer and double clicks on the QIWIN.exe file? They'll have to remember to enter the correct path to the data on the login screen.

Please try this and let me know the result (i.e. do they receive the same error when they try to post).

Softrak,

Thanks for the speedy reply. The client is using Invoices 8.1 2007.09.21.

They tried going in through the QIWIN.EXE file and they were able to post their invoices on the troubled machine that way.

Should they keep enetring Invoices via that route or is there something else we should have a look at??

Thanks,

D/C

Hi, Darcy,

No, I wouldn't recommend this. You need to find out what the problem is on this one workstation.

How do they (the one workstation) normally run Invoices? From a desktop icon or one in a folder on their Start menu? Check the properties of the icon and its Target and Start-in paths. These should be pointing to the program located on the server that they successfully posted using. They should not be pointing to the local drive nor to an old location on the server.

Let me know if that's the problem.

Darcy:

Also check that the properties of the shortcut use the mapped drive to start Adagio, not the UNC. I have found that the workstation install when run in Vista sometimes makes the path to the program "\\server\\resource\\softrak\...etc" instead of "x:\softrak\..etc."
