I'm doing some test with SalesCQ and Order Entry (expecting to buy these products to follow the prospects (CRM).
We actually used Job Tracker, Counter Sales, etc

During my test I did a check data integrity into Order Entry I got some S\O errors because some S\O are also coming from the Job Tracker.

I did not run the check data integrity into Job Tracker but I supposed that it will also give an integrity error because the S\O is update with the quantity in Order Entry.

My question is can we have 2 sources for S\O in the inventory.

If not, what do you suggest.

Hi Monique,

JobTracker and Order Entry cannot both be committing inventory using the On Sales Order method. JobTracker would need to be changed to commit inventory using the Work in progress Location method. You create an inventory location for jobs and edit the JobTracker Company Profile to commit IC using the Work in progress location. The Order Entry integrity check will correct the S\O errors it reports but we would need to create a utility that would move parts on outstanding jobs to the work in progress location.

I test what you proposed:
I created a new location into the inventory call WIP (Work in progress.
I assigned all the item to the new location
I changed the location in Job Tracker for WIP
I created a test job, then I checked into the inventory and the item was put at the WIP location in S/O
I opened the job into the Counter Sales and then I checked back the inventory and the item was no longer in the WIP location (S/O at zero), the job was marked but imported and the item too.

Till now everything OK

I posted the invoice into Counter Sales: Transaction History OK,
Sales History OK, etc.

The only problem that I was able to find is in the location WIP.

The quantity in the WIP location became in minus.

So the utility that we would need to create would move or change the WIP location when we are opening or posting a job into Counter Sales for example. Or keeping it into WIP location till the invoice is not posted. These are only suggestion.

Hi Monique,

You need to leave the Inventory location on Screen 6 of JobTracker at your standard inventory location. Further down on this screen change Remove parts from IC [Y] using method (Place on sales order) to (Use work in progress location) then set the that location to WIP. When you place a part on a job, JobTracker will move the part from the standard location to WIP and when it is invoiced, CounterSales will remove it and create all the necessary final costing ledger entries. Existing jobs will still have parts on S/O but new jobs will use the work in progress loaction to relieve parts from inventory that are placed on jobs.

The utility would need to look at existing jobs and move the quantities form the standard location to the work in progresws location.

When i try to change (Place on sales order) to (Work in progress)i can go to the next box, this box skip. But i can change the previous box for put Yes or No.

I'm not sure which field you are referring to.
When you set 'Remove parts form I/C Location' to Y you can select either 'Place on sales order' or 'Use work in progress location' next you get a warning and after accepting the warning, you can change the Location in the Location field.

After you fixed my probleme with my job tracker, all the parts on a job work perfectly.

But i have a problem when i do my integrity check. Maybe if is my road when i make the change.

I told you what i make and maybe you can fixed my problem.

I goes in the inventory for put all my item in my location WIP (Work in progress). I'll selected all my items (YES).

After that i goes to the job tracker, in compagny profil. i put WIP in my default inventory location field. (On Screen 6)

After, i goes on a current job to changed the location for ONE ITEM. Because the item on my current job is in the location 1. I changed the default location in the job details on THE JOB TOO. Because the current job is in the location 1. I'll goes in the inventory after that, for make sure if my item was goes in the good location (WIP) on the quantities tabs. My item was not i the location WIP, it stay in the location 1. But when i create a new job, my item goes on the good location (WIP). It's sound like i can't change item on a current job to WIP location if the job is in current.

NOW, when i make a new job, this message appear : ERROR

**WARNING*** This Card has Expired PRESS F2

And, When i do my integrity check (in the job tracker), My integrity Stop in the Phase 1, i have 2 Errors.

***I'll DO ALL THOSE THINGS IN THE TEST JOB TRACKER AND INVENTORY TEST.***

But now, when a person goes on the real job tracker to add item from inventory, the ERROR : ***WARNING*** THIS CARD HAS EXPIRED PRESS F2 Appear. He can also put the item, but i have to press alway F2. And HE Dont have acces to my test.

I run a check integrity in my real job tracker, and is complete all the phase correcly with no Error.

I run a check integrity in my TEST inventory too, after i put WIP location in the job tracker. The inventory dont read the quantities in the WIP location.

Ex: i have 200 quantities in one item, (in the WIP location) and 5 quantities in location 1. my check integrities give me error. he said i have 205 quantities on hand, but must be 5. He just read the quantities in location 1.

I know it's alot of problem, but i need to fixe it if i whould put in fonction my real inventory and job tracker.
