Hi Softrak peeps:
I am continually getting requests from our order desk to have Reference Number added to the find function either in "Enter orders/Invoices/credit" or under Inquiries. I know it is available in history, but they need to find current orders "not" processed. This will avoid duplicate orders at our end being entered if they can check first if the PO #(reference no.)already exists.
Anyway, I just updated and see nothing yet so I thought I'd make a request here for sometime in the future, if possible, for this to be added.

Hi Treasure,
David is correct. In the Smart Finder (press F6 when your cursor is in the regular finder) you can add the reference field to the grid by double clicking on any of the field headers. Scroll down and select "Reference" and then click the little right pointing arrow. You will then be able to search based on the reference number.

Thanks so much David & Ryan.
I actually never thought of adding any columns to the finder list but I see it works great, Thanks so much for that tip. Unfortuantely, it's not really going to do the trick in this case since it's too slow doing F6 on our data base. I have a fast computer but our order desk is only half as fast and it seems too slow even for me doing it this way. It is a better option then what I had before so Thank you.
I'd still like to see it added to the find feature under Inguiries, Display Orders/Invoice/Credit notes, down the road sometime. No biggie but thought I'd ask if possible.

Hello Treasure,
Are you looking for OrderEntry to warn an operator that there is already an Order in the system with the same reference number from that customer (to prevent duplicate entries)?

I think a warning might be one way to get the job done and yes mostly concerned with duplicates and avoiding more returns. My only concern there is my customers that use the same PO # for many orders placed(all the same job) maybe more control then we want and we'll be getting too many warnings slowing down the order desk. ie: I have some customers that use the word "stock" as a PO number and we may have hundreds of orders in the computer with that name. If you think that maybe easier for you to do, give it a go, just make it so we have the option to turn it off if possible.
What I specifically want is to be able to check a few of our larger customers for duplicates that have a high volume and our clients that are notorious for calling in duplicates hence my suggestion to have it on the find button.

Hello Treasure (and Doug),
I was thinking more about a warning that a specific customer already had an order in the system with that PO#. You wouldn't be prevented from adding another (to deal with the "STOCK" issue) and only the specific customer's orders would be checked.

I see where you are coming from. My concern is (in the Stock issue) I have a hundred open orders for one specific customer that say stock, will it go through each one with a warning? If it brings up a list and you can turn it off once, then that would work. I have one customer that may generate over 30 orders a day and we'll have some on file for this customer for over a year. I don't want it flashing a hundred orders one at a time. You can see how that maybe a problem. I think if others are interested in having that feature go for it. But Like I said I'd like to have the option to have it turned off.
