Here is the information from the Link:
I encountered this with another site this week (i.e. they upgraded, not installed new, from Office 20xx to 2013). What caused their ExcelDirect button to stop working was that their registry was not properly updated by that upgrade.
In short, what I would suggest people do to rectify this problem is to:
- determine the exact path that Excel is being run from
- make sure that rights is not the issue (open Adagio using Run as Administrator and determine if the problem still exists)
- if rights is not an issue, open the registry, collapse all trees and Edit | Find, excel.application
- you may have to F3 several times before you locate a LocalServer folder, which may be preceded by an InprocServer32 folder and/or followed by a LocalServer32 folder. There may also just be a LocalServer folder
- make sure the path in (Default) in the LocalServer folder and, if exists, the LocalServer32 folder is the 'correct' path to where the Excel.exe is located.
While using the [ComputerName]-CSVViewer= command is a solution to obtain an export, it produces an unformatted export. For someone not using Excel, this might be fine. However, for someone using Excel (most sites), I'm not convinced it would be satisfactory and editing the registry would be the better approach.
If you are not comfortable inspecting or editing the registry, you may want your Adagio Consultant to assist.
We will add this information to the Technical Tip document in the coming weeks.
