I tested with sample data and was not able to replicate your problem, though I may not have the identical setup to you.

In sample data I edited the filter for 'Incomplete active orders' and changed the sort order of the Doc# field to Ascending. On the PO List grid, with this filter selected, I received against the very oldest PO (at the top) or another near the top, and Received all and completed the PO. After the receipt was posted, that PO was removed from the list (because it is now completed), and the next PO on the list is highlighted with all the buttons available to click, including Receipt and Complete.

Indeed highlighting a completed PO will have the Receipt and Complete buttons disabled. And the Complete button is only available if the company profile option to 'Allow completion of outstanding POs' is selected.

Would it be possible for you to try the same test in sample data? Just to see if what you are running into is based on some differing company data option. For example, I have direct printing enabled, but am choosing not to print the receipt form.
