I've been following this and, after doing some testing, have found that there is something to what you are saying when a new ShipTo code is added to a Customer from within an order. The Shipto Addresses Finder grid isn't getting updated right away. While sometimes it does display the new ShipTo code, the number of ShipTo's it displays doesn't increase. As such, the newly added code doesn't always display in the grid.

The grid is refreshed if the order is closed and reopened and then all ShipTo's properly display.

I'll report this to R&D for you.
