Hi there.

Just a quick one:

1. Does the new 6.8 version allow for fax printing over Win2K?

2. Is it necessary to set autodisconnect, oplocks and file=250 with Adagio 6.8 (or previous versions)?

regards

Suresh

Dear Suresh

1. Yes, the 6.8 versions of Adagio are 32-bit applications and accomodate faxing in 32-bit O/S's where the older 16-bit versions did not. (The 6.8 version of Adagio Receivables has yet to be released though.)

2. In versions prior to 6.8, although we did not think this was necessary originally, we do recommend those settings. Especially if Adagio is to be used with ACCPAC Plus, where these requirements are necessary. In the 6.8A ADS versions the same would apply if using with ACCPAC Plus, however, where Adagio only is installed, I will have to look into this further and get back to you.

Hello again, Suresh

Further on using Adagio alone and what is required for oplocks etc., but this applies more to Novell clients though than NT/W2K.

Apparently there is an option called File Caching that needs to be turned off in the Novell Client. Over the years, Novell has switched the default value of File Caching from OFF to ON to OFF and back to ON, depending on their release. (For the computer to work properly with the Server it is also important that you are running the latest version of Client 32 for your station's O/S.)

Windows 95 - requires V3.21
Windows 98 - V3.21
Windows NT - V4.72
Windows 2000 - V4.72

You can find out more about the File Caching option at www.cae.wisc.edu/facstaff/network/caching/c32_caching.html .

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

Thanks for the reply. I can presume that if we run on Win2K servers with 98 / 2000 workstations, this wont be an issue with pure Adagio modules?

Something to users to note - I just downloaded the latest 2000 service pack, and also installed and updated Office XP. Somewhere along the line, the autodisconnect settings we reset. Could be a problem for Plus users if they're not careful.

The other thing is that I did an export of the GL listing to Excel 8.0 and opened it in Excel 10. Not a pretty sight!

Excel 7.0 works fine though.

regards

Suresh
