I have Client Receivables 990215 installed on a single computer. When I attempt to fax to a fax machine in my office the program dials up and makes a conection. The status indicator shows that it is attempting to get connection params. However after several attempts the call is terminated. The error message listed is "bad response from modem". I have two other programs on this machine that have no problems when faxing. How can I resolve this problem?

Hello Allan,

Are you running System Manager at the same time?

Please give us some more details about your system: version of Windows, type of modem, type of computer.

We have had some timing issues reported when Plus was running in the background and it was not set to "Always Suspend" in the Background on the icon properties.

At this point it is hard to tell what exactly is causing the "bad response from modem" message to occur. Can you fax it successfully anywhere? You could try faxing to us, if you like (604)736-6431.

Do you have another system w/modem installed that you can try this on? If so, install QIW on that system and try faxing. This would help to eliminate some factors.

If you experience the same results, does this system have the same USR modem? Is there any system in your office that has a different modem that you could try it on?

Let us know your results.

I faxed a statement to one of my clients and it worked just fine. I guess the problem only occurs when faxing to certain fax machines. Thanks for your help if there is any other info you need just say the word.
