I am using the Data Care integrity checker regularly, but yesterday it began to suddenly quit everytime it got to the OHITDT'I file in our Invoice History records.

Data Care doesn't report an error, and the Accpac Integrity Checker doesn't either, but Data Care just plain exits abruptly. It doesn't bother to finish writing to its log files either, it just plain bails out!
This has happened 5 times in a row, on two different machines, always at the same file. We are Win 95 clients on an NT4(sp4) network. Any ideas?

Guy

I should qualify what I mean by "it quits"

It just plain stop working, the numbers stop turning, and then it seems as if the operating system thinks the dos based app has finished, and it shuts the dos window.

When it quits it doesn't just quit back to the system manager, it quits all the way back to windows. System manager is shut down too!

Thanks, Guy

Hi Guy,

Try copying the data files to a local hard drive, and perform a single entry check on your OH data. If the DataCare does not exit abruptly to the desktop, then the issue has to do with your network environment.

If you have sample data, try the same integrity checks. If there is no abrupt end, then there is in fact a problem with this file that is not being reported.

Also, try doing a Single Start List data check with the Flat and Keyed files turned off for Invoice History. This will basically be the same as the WSM integrity check. In doing the WSM check, do you run across the same 'crash'?

The WSM works without error.
This has happened about 5 times now.

What kind of networking issues might be at play? We just recently had our network overhauled due to the fact that Data Care was finding errors in the data regularly. Every cable end was redone, and tested.

We went over a week clean every day, then suddenly Data Care starts to act up.
I'm sure the network is clean.
We run Ethernet 100 with Intel 100 Nics.

Once again, copy the data files to a local hard drive, and perform a single entry check on your OH data. Follow all of our last suggestions to try to narrow the problem down.

We cannot advise you on your network issues.
