A client using Adagio Invoices 9.0B asked about pasting lengthy descriptions into an item on an invoice.

They receive lengthy descriptions of the work to be billed in an email. They want to copy that text, add an item to an invoice and paste into the Description block. When they do that, only the first line gets populated and the rest gets truncated. In other words, there is no wrap-around ability. For that matter, it would be useful to have wrap-around when manually typing the description.

The 750 characters (10 lines x 75 characters) is sufficient in total length.

I realize that the Description block isn’t a memo field; it’s actually 10 individual fields of 75 characters. However I’ve noticed that the Notes fields (Customers, Vendors, GL accounts etc) do allow lengthy text strings to be pasted and they have a similar structure.

This client, not currently on an annual upgrades plan, would purchase a new Invoices module if this capability were available.

Lengthy descriptions can be entered in CounterSales. Is there anything unique in Invoices that couldn't be handled in CounterSales? If lengthy descriptions are really important to them would they consider moving to CounterSales? With work to be billed, are they using workorders?

CounterSales and Invoices are not even close substitutes for one another. Even though I know you are eager to recommend your product, your comments need to have some basis in reality.

Invoices supports 750 character text descriptions, plus as many additional 750 character text blocks as your need.

I think Bruce is looking for a smart "Paste" operation to load the text block from an email.

I'm reading through some of the earlier topics.

Implementing Bruce's suggestion would save us a tremendous amount of time when billing, and increase accuracy.

Text Wrapping has been added in the Invoices 9.3B (2021.09.30) Upgrade just released.
