We are currently using Adagio Purchase Orders 8.1C. We are trying to change the amount of characters that the item number contains. We do not use Inventory Control at all so we really only need to change the Sundry item number format. We have purchased Adagio Toolkit and have the Item number changer, but that does not seem to be able to change the item format.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I wasn't aware that P/O could operate without I/C. This scenario will be supported on the next release of the Toolkit.

Just to be clear, we are not using PO for any items that will be re-sold but only for the budget function when purchasing services or supplies for the business.

The previous version of PO for Adagio could run without IC and presumably the upgrade 8.1C can as well. The format for inventory is maintained in the PO global file.

You could also modify with GridView Read/Write to the new format of your sundry items.

The format is stored in the global file, but you have to consider all of the items and documents that contain item fields. A change to the format might require a change to the content of each item field.

Sorry, I think there's a misunderstanding here, maybe I wasn't clear,

from Adagio PO
go profile > auto-numbering> Purchase Order Number Format/Item Number Format. We need to change these two options from 3-3-3 to 1-1-1.

I've seen other posts that speak of people changing it, are you saying you can't do this anymore?

Once you post something in PO, you won't be able to change the format of the documents or Sundry items. The Toolkit for Adagio can be used to change both, but you'll have to wait for the next release because your configuration was unexpected. ie. without Inventory.

Bob: In cases where no inventory control is required, PO can use just Sundry items. In my case, for example, I export my item descriptions and codes from Invoices and, after editing the price column, import them as Sundry items for PO.

While I have everyone's attention, the next release will include an A/R Territory Changer. That should complete the Toolkit code changers.

We understood that the item codes were saved in Adagio tables, PO, IC, or OE as unformatted items.

If you change the item format, the format template just gets applied to the item codes already posted. If you need to change the items to a new formatted item and change the codes at the same time, then we understand that the next release will handle that function without having IC connected to PO.

If you are trying to change from 3-3-3 to 1-1-1 you will be dropping the last 6 digits of an unformatted number unless you have blanks or zeros in the last 6 digits. If this is not your direction, then you will need to wait for the next release of Toolkit, to correct the format and numbers of the items on posted orders, receipts, and invoices.

Best,
Brian
