A client wants to send to the warehouse not only a picking slip, but labels to affix to each item that is picked, with each label listing the sales order number and the item number (and they said they want the quantity as well, but I am seeking clarification on that one).

They expect to be using a thermal printer.

What's the best solution for this - I know the Total tab of an order has a "number of labels" field, but is that useful for this?

Thanks

Steve

Steve:

You will need ePack for Adagio from Dakota or a custom Crystal report.

Hi Doug

Clarification - they only need one label per detail line, not one label per item, that's why they want the quantity ordered on the label. So if a customer orders five of something, they need one label that has the quantity five on it.

Does that change your answer?

Steve

If your labels include a barcode, you really do need ePack for Adagio. The product maintains it's own item/barcode table. Currently the product currently prints x labels for x ordered, but that can be modified to fulfill your client's request.

I think you narrowed down the choice to Crystal Reports.

Hello Steve:
I do not know if you are still looking for a solution here.

I had the same need with a client recently, in that they print a label for every single line item from their daily Order Entry Invoices. (They pack each Item separately in a box/container, and place the label on the box.)

Because of additional requirements, we are using the Adagio ODBC and linking to the relevant data tables in a MS-Access database. It is working nicely. The program allows them to select a Date Range of Invoices (or Orders), and we generate the labels as a report in Access.

Give me a call if you want to discuss further.
