On numerous occasions when I have tried deleting a customer I get the message " Unable to access customer Notes Header. This file is in use by (account user name)in window (SalesCQ)" then I have the choice of "Cancel"or "Retry" It doesn't matter which I choose I get the same message comes back up and I end up in a loop which I can't get out of. This happens in Adagio Order Entry 8.1D , Adagio Receivables 9.0B and also when I am trying to transfer a prospect into a customer in SalesCQ 8.1B I will sometimes get the same message and again I am stuck in a loop and have to get someone to Log me out of the system. It seems the Cancel button does not do what it is supposed to do. Is this a problem that is being worked on to correct? or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

Hi Barb,

Is the user referenced in the SalesCQ locking message actually doing something in SalesCQ? If so, then the message may indeed be valid and you cannot save your change to the customer until the other person is finished doing what they are working on in SalesCQ.

We have seen one instance where editing notes for a Prospect within SalesCQ has not correctly cleared a file and thus causes the same problems you reported - deleting a customer, and attempting to Cancel. The current resolution is to have that user who was in SalesCQ and editing notes to close the SalesCQ program, and that will allow you to do your customer processing.

Okay but why when I click on the option to cancel does it not just cancel the request rather then making me stuck in the Loop getting the same message over and over.

Not being able to click on the Cancel button and get expected behaviour is part of the problem. It is not something that you are doing wrong.

So, What you are saying is that the cancel button doesn't do anything? My problem being is that we work out of 4 locations and the Sales people are on laptops in the field so contacting the user listed in the message is not always easy to do. Is there anyway after I have made a request to Delete a customer or transfer a prospect and the message comes up, that I can exit that request with having someone log me out of the system?

The current behavior - that needs to be fixed - is that if someone uses SalesCQ to Edit a Note on a Prospect, this causes the problem you are seeing when deleting a customer that has a Note. The problem originates in SalesCQ because it doesn't do the correct record-locking clean up when editing Prospect Notes, and goes away when the SalesCQ program is closed.

The problem does not occur if new notes are added to prospects in SalesCQ, nor does it happen when deleting customers that do not have any notes.

If the problem happens to you, your only choices are to get the salesperson to close SalesCQ or to get logged out of the system as you currently are doing. I sympathize that this is annoying, especically when it is difficult to get a hold of the salesperson. This is not the way we want to program to be working.

In the mean-time, if it is possible to have the salespeople not stay in SalesCQ - especially if they edit Prospect Notes - then this will help you out. Also, instead of deleting the customer, mark it Inactive and then at the end of the day use the Delete Inactive Customers function.

How often are you having to delete customers?

I don't have to delete customers that often and I won't be able to use the delete inactive customers as we don't want them all deleted as some have transactions in History. I guess what I do the most is Transfer propects into customers where the problem also happens. I guess for now until the problem is fixed I will have to make sure that I get the Salesmen out of the SalesCQ before I attempt the transfer.

Thank you
