We have recently run into a problem (found a way around it, thank goodness) and I am curious as to whether it can be fixed so we don't keep running into this.

We have four branches, one of which is in Quebec. I did an export our of AR for all our customers, including the QC ones. Made the changes I was looking to do, and then went to import it back into the data. Four errors. After some detective work, it was a theory that perhaps what was creating the error was the accent over some (four) of the Quebec customer names. Accents removed, and Voila! Import worked fine. I do believe my QC customers would like to see their names spelled with the correct accents over letters, but in order to import these customers, I have to take the accents out.

It is not really feasible take off and then add back on each time I export and then import back into AR.

Please advise! Thank you.

Barb

Hi Barb,

Importing records in Adagio has an option called 'Allow extended character set' (or something like this) that has to do with ASCII characters such as French characters with accents. When you are exporting and importing, do you have this option enabled?

Also, ensure that after customers are exported, the characters are correct so that importing has a chance. Though there should not be a difference, perhaps exporting to Excel behaves differently than say to the CSV format.

Hello Barb:

On the Customer Import template in Adagio, you will see a check-box named "Use extended character set". Try the import with a check-mark on that option. First, edit the file down to just 1 or 2 customers so that you can confirm the results easily.
